FROM “SONG OF TRAGEDY”-- T V SATYANARAYANA

“Streams of tears are surging up everywhere
Tears in the sky, tears inside the earth
Human history turned into a lady and raining tears
Streams of blood on battlefields of humans
Are reaching cosmic sea as streams of tears
Showers of tears in every heart, every womb
Tears in tender heart of bride anew
Strings of tears beneath the smiles of babies

In the lotus heart of a new mother, winds of tears
Hearts of the earth, Sun and God  and fate
Are overflowing with lakes of tears
I turn into herald of  tragedy cosmic  and play the harp of tears
Today I see my heart moved by divine emotion
I adorn the universe with garlands of tears-
I turn into stream of tears to vanish into cosmic sea.”

"SPELLBOUND "-- "Karunasri" Jandhyala Papayya Sastry

That is a night of Sarat, in  palace of  the sky
Fairies lined lamps
In the hands of  the moon
Giggled   the lake of love.

Bloomed vanalakshmi,
Moon light in  the world like flour spread
The light wind blew cool and slow!
From the cold waters of Yamuna.

That splendid night,
 In Brindavan of New delights
 Where beauty roams
On the shores of river Yamuna pure.

Under the canopy of  sweet tender creepers
Who’s the  maker  of  garland of lotuses
On the  marble  platform  on the shore?

What thoughts in  her   eyes
spellbound with sweet nectar of love!
what desires in her face  radiating nectar of love!
the supreme beauty of  worlds three
In her doting hands a garland of love
Who  is  the artist handsome
 It  longs to  adorn?

“The moon  rose like a flame
The wind boy  raged
The melodious flutist is yet to come
 And breached  promise he made.”

Sighs rose more and more
Sweat appeared on her tender cheeks
Face fell in her palm
Fell a tear on her cheek.

Meanwhile came a handsome black man
Moving here and there on the sands
Came from behind
Closed both of her eyes with his fingers.

Sweet smells of kasturi spread
Fragrance of tender tulsi rose
Touching those delicate fingers
The woman cried “Krishna, Krishna.”

“Having asked me  to  Brindavan
For boat shire on waves of Yamuna
Shining under rays of moon in  lovely Sarat
Why are you sitting at home?

How much time passed
Since I came here
Since bowers bloomed,  winds of love blown
In this moonlight that steals hearts
On this shore of  river Yamuna
That  rose  and overflowed.

Darling! Do you ignore your love?
Kind man! Do you show such unkindness?
Mahatma! Do you show such scornfulness?
Lord of my heart! do you  perturb me so much ?

Thus the lady in tears saw her lord
In a mood of  temper fleeting.

Emperor of sarasa sangita sringara
Handsome man of worlds all
Royal Swan of lake of Radhika’s heart
Spoke with  face cheerful.

“If you are angry over my delay
Woman! Can’t you  chain  me with flowers!
Lady! Can’t you hit me with chrysanthemum?
Lass! Can’t you bind me  with thread around waist?

Radhika’s angry  lips smiled
Laughed  nature
Smiled  Bindavan and Yamuna
Smiled the moon
Laughed as if their bellies cracked
Jasmines in Radha’s hair.

While   tears fell down
Radha, the deer-eyed
Entranced and lifted  her lover at her feet
Giving her hand
Reshuffled his fore hair curled
Reordered Tilak   faded on his  forehead

“Yes! Master of love insincere !
Asked like a  hero for  punishment apt?
Won’t your ever delicate body
Get crushed when hit by chrysanthemum?
Can I bear to see your face tired and down?
How can my hands punish you, my lord?

How pitiless am I? Krishna!
I made you bow before me intentionally
Crushed was  garland fresh  on your neck
Shone drops of sweat  on your  glassy  cheeks
Annoyed  peacock’s  feather on your head.

Can I gain you
But  for  merit of my life  past;
Radhika alone is  fortunate enough today
To   kiss your  flowery feet and put them  on my cheeks
 won't  I  be overwhelmed
In  my  passion to see your beauty universal?

Can I gauge compassion
in your eyes, kamala lochana?
Can I fathom  beauty  in your face
living form    of love?

Can I measure sweetness
In your words soft, Sulalita Kapola?
Can I  grasp  nectar
In your smile, my lord?
Can I guess   intoxication
In your lips, lord of Radha?”

Saying thus Radhika  spellbound
fell on friendly bosom of Krishna .

None can know the secret
“Who loved whom better
Between Radha and   Krishna
They are lovely couple  new forever.

"ANANDA LAHARI "-- "Karunasri" Jandhyala Papayya Sastry

When  it  dawns
Blooms fifteenth August in the country
Our imprisonment  ended
By bidding farewell  to  the White rule.

Tomorrow’s rays would touch sweetly
The tender cheeks of babies
The  Cold breezes of tomorrow would touch pleasantly
The foreheads of babies.

Roses in garden would sway
More delicately than usual
Drums in Red fort would beat
More fiercely than usual.

More pleasantly than normal
Would fly  the tri-colour flag tomorrow
More zealously than usual
Would  unfurl  the people’s heart.

It’s about ten to twelve years
Since we drove the Satan of slavery  out
Since we had broken the shackles
Bound  around  our ankles.

Tomorrow Jayaharati would be given devotedly
To mother by Swarajya Bharati laughing happily
That is our  festival of  Independence
That is Sarvodaya joyous in our hearts.

Heard are the delicate sounds of bracelets of victory
Blooming are golden flowers in my heart
The East is smiling to herself beautifully for reason secret
Giving the string of pearls in  affection elusive.

Oh, lass who saw thirteen springs
Who are you?
Who would raise waves of peace in our hearts?

Oh, golden girl who stood in the shade of tri-colour  flag
Who are you?
Oh, evergreen heroine who says “Satya meva jayate?”

Who are you Eswari
On coin  minted of lions four
Who are you ,sister?
Who would radiate smiles galore?

Who are you, blissful girl?
In your eyes move
Red bright   glitterings  of eyes of Rana Pratap
Shining  of   prowess apt of Chatarpati Shivaji.

Who are you little sister ?
Your words radiate
Jhansi Lakshm’s heroism, Bahadur shah’s nerve
Mangal Pande’s sacrifice, Tantya Tope’s pride
Saliavhanas’ adventure, Kakatiyas’  temper.

Who are you woman of awareness?
In your eyes appear
Laughs sprinted  in Yasodhara’s  Palace of love
Flowers bloomed in Asoka’s garden
Lights lit by Vikramarka and Kalidasa.

I am girl of freedom  and of ceaseless innovation
I am lass of Swaraj and evergreen super woman.

Dadabhai  Nowroji’s glowing patriotism
Gopalakrishna Gokhale’s  great love of freedom
Balagangadhara Tilak’s cleverness of comprehensive ideas
Lala lajpat Rai’s     great ability of brightness
Sweet goodness of Madan Mohan Malaviya
Inspired awareness of Chitta Ranjan Das
Commander of Bardoli struggle our deputy PM spotless
Talent of  Patel, the  iron man of India
A bright light who taught revolution peace
The Sun who gave Sankranti to luminosity
National hero, Mahavibhuti of freedom struggle
Matchless splendour of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose
Gave me life and nourishment
Provided strength and propelled me to go ahead.

His word  fifth Veda of cosmos
His call a blowing of conch to country
His  fast  Sri Rama Raksha  to universe
His life  uplifting of human race.

He’s a university strange
He’s a temple holy
He’s  a  Himalaya tall
A balance of truth and Ahimsa.

He’s no enemies, a great Rishi
He’s  Yugapurusha ,  A Mahatma
His immortal hands
Gave me nectar and brought  me up.

I am Laksmi of freedom,
Lakshmi of Swaraj
A goddess of prosperity
Giver of  awareness to nation.

August revolution of those days
Unforgettable upsurge matchless.

That’s Mahasivaratri when Shiva took poison lethal
That day shook the  earth and creatures all.

The chariot of  awareness  ran fast
The path of freedom  accorded  warm  welcome

Arose, Awakened and marched nation great

Burnt were files in offices
Fell like vultures police caps
Went Trains on satyagraha
Opened doors Jails.

The White rule had been shaken
The tyranny of  vested interests broken
The bells of temple of freedom resounded
The drums of freedom victorious heard aloud.

It’s yagna- complete mahayajna.
That was continuous Swaraj mahayajna.

Alluri Sitarama Rajus who brightened ages
Desabhaktas, Desoddharakas, Andhra Ratnas, Andhra kesaris

Warriors common, great, epical
Matchless heroes of prowess and  courage
Anonymous heroes sacrificed their lives at platforms of yagas
Jumped in the tongues of great  fires of war
Turned into dust in flames bright.

Turned cool the fire place of  Swaraj
Drenched in rains of tears of mothers
Out of mud  of the place
Born a flower  most  wonderful.

I am Bharat Bhagya Lakshmi born in mud
I am Laksmi of freedom,
Lakshmi of Swaraj

I am golden creeper of freedom-
My leaves are green
My shoots  are red
I am dear symbol of tricolour
I am bath of nectar to Ashoka’s wheel   beautiful .

"KARUNA KUMARI" ( Dame of Mercy)-- Karuna Sri

She is a world beauty, amritamayi,
Mover in infinite universe, form of peace
The holiest woman, a matchless lass
In the entire cosmos.

Amidst  the lake of her heart
Floats up this  world entire
In her sigh melt like atoms
Meru mountains countless.

At edge of her eye lives forever
Gangabhavani  from heaven
In the shining of her smile
bloomed  gardens a hundred.

The rising sun would apply pasupu parani
To her feet with his hands golden
In the cosmic shire of dame of mercy
Every step equal to heavens a crore.

Tenderness, nonviolence, lack of envy her sisters- in-law
She  is  a girl of eternal bliss
Before the delicate feet of this  Empress
Bows even Brahma.

Her passionate embrace an offering
Of  Lakshmi to life mine
Her feeling a soothing cold breeze
To my life turned  barren.

With pollen from her flowery feet
I  fill  up to the  edges
Of my  life  faded
Under the wheel of cruel time.

The ultimate meaning of life mine
Dedicated at  her feet
Empty is  my life
Without  merging  my heart with hers.

In tears of joy of Bharatmata
Under the  bright  light of full moon
On stage of bliss of  universal man
Took place our love marriage.

For my goddess of adoration
For her only this  tapas  of mine
Darling   daughter of the Lord Buddha
Tender girl , ‘Sri Karuna Kumari”

MORE THAN CANCER

 Corruption financial
 Became new religion of
 Independent India
 Neither  fear of God
 Nor humanistic ethics
 Able to stem the rot
 Leaders like
 Lal Bahadur Sastri
 Should come
 To cleanse the dirt
 To put human at centre
 Currency at periphery
 Leaders like Prakasam
 Should come
To face the firing of  scams
 Law and   Moral Education
 Should go hand in hand
 To set the  nation
 Back on rails
 Art  must awaken all
 From sedation
 Beauty must change
Ugly reality into land of  plenty and  human dignity.

KAUSALYA'S ANGUISH

On listening to Rama’s   request to permit him to go to forest, Kausalya suffered as if hit by an arrow in her heart.  Her heart was disturbed like the deer that heard the roar of a lion. her body began shaking.
Owing to conflict between duty and love, she didn’t stop him. she could ask him neither  to go to forest nor  to stay back.  She said “  your father wanted to give you kingdom but gave forest life. I am not suffering a bit. Without you Bharat, king and people of Ayodhya   would suffer a lot. Dear! If this were merely your father’s order, don’t go to forest. Mother’s place is more than that of father. If both parents asked you to  go to forest, it is equal to a hundred Ayodhyas. But my heart is feeling sad on seeing your delicacy. The forest where you are going is fortunate whereas Ayodhya is unfortunate. If I asked you to take me with you, you would suspect that I am stopping you on this pretext.  I have become helpless I  won’t stop you by expressing my affection excessively  but don’t forget this mother and her affection.
My dear ! Let gods and forefathers would protect you in the forest as eyelids save eyes. Your period of exile is like water in the lake. Your people are like fish. You are an ocean of kindness and form of Dharma. You come back after the period of exile to  and don’t forget your people, and family. They would keep their lives till you come back.”
While referring to Sita, She said, “ This beauty has been my daughter- in-law. I  have been looking after her like pupil of my eye and like a creeper nurtured by water called love.  The  delicate Sita wants  to follow you to forest. Can a chakori bird that absorbs the cool rays of the moon withstand the fierce rays of the Sun? Can the swan that moves amidst beautiful flowers of Manasarovar   live in stagnant pool ? let her stay at home to give me company.” But Sita was firm to follow  Rama to the forest.
Is there any comparison between  Kausalya’s love for Rama  and Sita and a woman’s cruelty to her own daughter  for the sake of her selfishness in Nellore as we found in  today’s newspaper?
Tulsi das' s Sri    Ramacharit Manas is a wonderful poetic work that delights the hearts of the readers.

From "Ambassaador of Peace" of Karunasri

Make the arrow  shot at your heart by
Mischevous creator as your pen to write an epic
Allow  the warm tears at  edges of eyes of
Your dame of  compassion
To soak  with    Rasa
To Yield piles of golden crop
Create new India, o poet!

Holding  the pain that wrenches  your heart
Hiding  the forest fire in your heart beneath a smile
Feeling  public weal as fruit of your scholarship
Deliver pots of Rasa and pieces of art
As the  faces of ages dazzle.
