poems for Empathy As Life

Mayhem

Cities  explode
Lives evaporate
  Sympathies implode
Boundaries petrify
Humans are cattle in a container
Herded in pain and rain
World  an abattoir
Terrorist  knife   slits   throats of the innocent
For the crimes  of  the far and the powerful
 Power-hungry bombs vanish  humans
For  being civilians in a marked country
World is Mad
Still  needs   peace
  Despite  Hell-fire of fundamentalism

Victims of War

The World War I
The mother of all wars
Millions  were  cannon fodder
The  World War II
Crores of people  cadavers
Atom bomb ended  innocence and war
   Partition of India
Divided hearts and countries
Refugees and Religious killings
Cold war
Created mistrust and missiles
The last century turned
The  earth    red
 Mass graves  for the dead
Man aggressive, woman submissive
Crushed  by  possessiveness
We
 Turned victims of vindictiveness.

The Plague

  Releasing doves  of Peace
Into the skyscape of  human race
Is it going to give us solace?
Can we harvest a crop
Without  the sowing   seeds of   Justice?
Night of ignorance  breeds   forces of  darkness
Light of  wisdom  exorcises   demons of despair
Till  then war hovers over the earth
Like  dark clouds
That gather menacingly and mercilessly
 Like  locusts
That steal crop   swiftly  and merrily.

Healing

Life is a conflict
Between itself and death
War  a wound
Made by  the trade and ambition
Love  a balm
Prescribed by the pious and prophets
To save the soul of  life
Does anyone  kiss the edge of the blade
In lieu of  darling’s  lips ?
How long   peace  a   daydream of the brave
Or  a  nightmare of the Knave ?
