HOPE FOR THE BEST

Positive thinking means hopeful thinking. It means seeing opportunity in every calamity and not the other way round. Positive attitude improves the quality of our life, our motivation and chances of success in any activity you take up or whatever field you are in. Some ways to cultivate this positive thinking are:.

Self-faith. You have to think success rather than defeat. Thinking has more powerful and deep influence than it is usually acknowledged.
You have begin each day with peaceful, joyous and grateful thoughts. Dale Carnegie says that one has to count one’s blessings and focus on one’s strengths rather than weaknesses. Cynical thoughts must be brushed aside. A cynic is one who knows the price of every thing and value of nothing. As it is said when he sees flowers, he smells coffin. Faith helped Nachiketa to wait three days for Yama and to know the secret of death in a story from Upaishads.

Control your moods. If you blame others, system or boss for your failure, it’s not going to help you a bit.
When some one asks you, how do you do ? Answer, “ I feel great”.
There are things such as dreadful diseases, weather or world economy which are beyond any one individual’s range. But we can change our moods by changing our thoughts. The control of moods helped Dharma Raja regain his kingdom in the epic Mahabharata. Even such a balanced personality wanted to give up his kingship due to repentance over the loss of life of his kith and kin Karna, Bhishma,Drona, Abhimanyu, Upapandavas etc. in the war. Then his brothers, wife Draupadi, Rishis like Vyasa and at last Sri Krishna convinced him how his enemies had to perish due to their evil deeds and his duty was to rule the kingdom without repenting over violence unavoidable and doing charitable acts to please one and all.

It needs a mental discipline. People who are not motivated enough see a gulf between
Their work and play. When you are doing something you enjoy, forget about time. Scientists like Einstein, Vikram Sarabhai and Kalam could feel the flow while in work.

Positive ambience will change you and your friends or colleagues would like to be around you. Change is not a black hole that absorbs all light and you have to see silver lining of the cloud or light at the end of the tunnel. This helped Lance Armstrong survive cancer.


Avoid habitual negative thinkers if possible and make them aware of their negativity if necessary. Give an article or a book or a piece of advice to delete the virus from their minds. But every time it is not possible to do so and transforming them totally may not be in your hands. The moment you realize that the virus is too powerful, better move away from it or isolate it.

Better minimize social distractions or ‘friends’ who deviate you from your goals.
