POEMS OF M.SARAT BABU

                                                    MOTHER INDIA'S MALADY

Mother India ailed mysteriously!
Great doctors examined her thoroughly
To find out the disease of the Lady
And soon started a wonderful remedy!

More children and fewer souls had led
To her soul-onomic crisis, some said!
Hindo-philia made Hindo-phils prey on
Christo-phils, Islamo-phils and so on!

Soul-opsy revealed severe soul-oma!
Doctor Religion gave anaesthesia;
Doctor Politics performed soul-ectomy;
But India’s malady reached its acme!

The soul-osopher found the worst syndrome;

         Acquired Soul Deficiency Syndrome!

How Satanic Man Has Grown!

Who is God and what is God?
God is sound and sound is God!
Streams and birds drum and hum and pray to God!
Men and machines chatter and clatter and prey on God!

Who is God and what is God?
God is air and air is God!
Musk deer and jasmines fill the air with fragrance and please God!
People and vehicles spit out foul fumes and tease God!

Who is God and what is God?
God is water and water is God!
The earth and the heaven become the holy home for God!
                                   Firms and farms fill that temple with lethal filth!

How satanic man has grown!

Privatisation of Love

As spontaneously, love sprang in me,
“Civilize your love,” they told me!
As naturally, love sprouted in me,
“Culture your love,” they warned me!
As I remained still untamed,
They got me love-starved!
As my heart got love-starved,
I let my heart love-rationed!
Alas! My love was caste-rated!
Alas! My love was adult-rated!
As I reached my merry age,
I thought of my marriage!
So I let myself enslaved by money
To enslave a woman as did many!
I chained and bound her in gold;
And she shone like a plastic marigold!
I immured her body in shiny silk;
And she borrowed her beauty from that silk!
I preserved her heart in a fridge;
And her love remained frigid in that fridge!
I imprisoned her mind in a colour TV;
And her reason rose as reliable as that of TV!

Finally, I bought a double bed for my wifely love

To become the sole proprietor of her privatised love!

The Melody of Love

The beautiful sky and the green valley,
Ring with the melody, you sing today!

Lucky’s my life, you become my wife!
You fill my heart like great rare art!

The beautiful sky and the green valley,
Ring with the melody, you sing today!

Whenever we meet, your love’s so sweet,
I forget agony in your company!

The beautiful sky and the green valley,
Ring with the melody, you sing today!

The spring of nectar, the moon you are!
Why come you near and fly off dear?

The beautiful sky and the green valley,
Ring with the melody, you sing today!

CLT

Director Doctor Lakshmi Narayan
Studied Collegiate Education
And directed Vijay and Andal well
To find out why the ELT fell ill!
English Language Teaching became teasing!
English Language Learning began sneezing!
Collegiate Education got good doctors
Carole and George studied the real factors
They culled and called the crazy cream
And enthralled them with the thrill of a team
They prescribed them capsules of practicum
A HOT delicious dish of capsicum
They found in CLT a remedy
To make ELT a nice melody!

The Angel of Love

You’re the nectar of life, come near!
You’re the angel of love, come dear!
The crescent moon in the sky is shining
As with great love you’re now smiling!
You’re the nectar of life, come near!
You’re the angel of love, come dear!

You’re the fragrance of lovely flowers teasing,
Being spread around by the breezes pleasing!
I feel the thrill of the tickling love
Of the celestial maidens twinkling above!
You’re the nectar of life, come near!
You’re the angel of love, come dear!

Your love removes my pining agony!
I dream and scream for your loving company!
Yours is the beauty greatly coveted by many!
I’m the immense mirth of enjoying that honey!
You’re the nectar of life, come near!
You’re the angel of love, come dear!
